The six things FACET measures, and why those six

September 9, 2026 · FACET

Most skin quizzes sort you into four types. Four buckets cannot hold a face.

We measure six axes because six is the smallest number that still separates people who would otherwise land in the same bucket. Two women can both be dry. One has a barrier full of gaps and loses water as fast as she applies it; the other has an intact barrier and simply is not applying a humectant. The same word, two opposite formulas.

Hydration is water in the surface layer. Barrier is whether that water can stay. Evenness is pigment distribution. Firmness is structural bounce. Clarity is congestion. Fatigue is what the eye area is doing.

What we do not measure: anything below the surface, anything that needs a diagnosis, and anything a photograph cannot honestly see. When a reading is thin, we say so rather than inventing confidence.
